FIDF annual dinner raises over $1 million

The Annual Dinner, FIDF Central Region’s largest annual fundraising event, took place at the Hilton Chicago on Oct. 24. Some 750 attended the event, which honored Larry Goodman of Highland Park, chairman of the Lillian and Larry Goodman Foundation and Maru Gete, a former Israeli soldier and current medical student. Goodman supports Jewish life in Chicago, the United States and Israel, as well as organizations that address education, hunger issues, and the prevention of drug abuse. Through the FIDF IMPACT! Scholarship Program he has supported students like Gete at Ben-Gurion University in the Negev. FIDF, established in 1981 by a group of Holocaust survivors to honor and support Israel Defense Forces, raised more than $1 million at this event, and to date has raised more than $8 million to date in support of FIDF’s 2013 campaign.
