The Lillian and Larry Goodman Open Apartments Program
Ben Gurion Univeristy
The Lillian and Larry Goodman Open Apartments Program at Ben Gurion University provides select students rent-free housing in exchange for community service in low-income neighborhoods in Be’er Sheva. The students provide services to the community such as mentoring and after school programming, holiday gatherings, community theater, and home repairs.
“The Open Apartments Program encourages communal engagement that is of benefit to both the students and the families they mentor. We must instill the concept of giving back to the community in our young people.”
